Fascia, Function, and the Tied Tongue: A Whole-Body View of Oral Restriction
What Craniosacral Therapists need to know about the fascial continuum from the lingual frenulum to the deep front line.
Tongue tie is too often understood as a localised oral problem, yet the tongue is fascially continuous with the floor of the mouth, the hyoid, the cervical spine, the diaphragm, and the deep front line that runs the length of the body. A restriction at the lingual frenulum rarely sits in isolation, and its effects show up in feeding, breathing, posture, and the patterns craniosacral therapists are already palpating in clinic.
In this 45 minute evening session, Kate and Justin draw on clinical material from their recent Tongue Tie Toolbox webinar series to bring the fascial story to life. They will outline the anatomical basis for whole-body presentation, the aerophagia-induced reflux mechanism, and how the Release, Retrain, Relieve framework supports collaborative care between craniosacral practitioners and the medical and therapy team at NTTC.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the fascial continuum linking the tongue and oral floor to the hyoid, cervical spine, diaphragm, and deep front line.
- Recognise the clinical signs of oral restriction beyond the mouth, including feeding, breathing, and postural patterns commonly seen in craniosacral practice.
- Identify when collaboration with a multidisciplinary tongue tie service is indicated and how the Release, Retrain, Relieve framework supports shared care.
