Overview

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance. Rooted in osteopathic principles and informed by modern neuroscience, CST  works with the nervous system, the craniosacral system (which includes the brain, spinal cord, membranes, and fluid), and the body as a whole.

During a session, the therapist uses light, therapeutic touch to listen to the body’s rhythms and encourage the release of deep tensions. This can ease physical and emotional stress, enhance resilience, and support overall wellbeing.

CST is known for its calming, non-invasive nature. Clients often report feeling deeply relaxed and more connected to themselves after a session. It is suitable for people of all ages and can be an effective stand-alone therapy or a supportive complement to other forms of treatment.

CST for Adults

Craniosacral Therapy can be particularly supportive for adults experiencing the pressures of modern life. It may help with:

  • Stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Chronic fatigue or persistent pain
  • Sleep disturbances
  • TMJ issues (jaw tension)
  • Recovery from injury or trauma
  • Support for nervous system regulation and resilience

Whether you’re seeking relief from a specific issue or looking to reconnect with a sense of inner balance, CST offers a gentle path towards healing.

CST for Babies and Children

Craniosacral Therapy is widely used with babies and children due to its non-invasive and sensitive nature. Birth can be a physically and emotionally intense experience for both mother and baby. CST may help with:

  • Settling after a difficult birth
  • Colic, reflux, or feeding difficulties
  • Sleep and settling issues
  • Tension patterns from birth interventions (e.g. forceps, caesarean)
  • Behavioural or developmental challenges
  • Support for children with sensory needs

Therapists work with great care and presence, creating a calm and supportive space for young ones to release tension and thrive.
